Will that plant do well where we live? You need to know what zones it prospers in. What is this about? It is the standard by which gardeners can determine which plants are most likely to thrive in any given location.
I’m in zone 7a.
Once you know what zone you live in, not only can you decide if a particular plant will do well, but you can begin to make a plan about WHEN to plant a particular plant. Too soon and it’ll get caught in temperatures that can kill it. Too late and it won’t have time to deliver it’s bounty before the weather gets too hot. It’s a good dose of science, and a bit of art as well.
